Women on Snow is a great weekend of snowmobiling and fun in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. The annual event, which started in Eagle River in 1986, attracts over 100 women of all ages the last weekend in January. The event officially begins with registration on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday morning. The women are divided up into six riding groups, designated by color and led by one of the hostesses. A riders’ meeting is held before departing for the first ride. At 9:00 a.m. each group leaves the host resort for a ride on the Eagle River area trails, making a pit stop or two along the way . Friday’s ride is approximately 100 miles and a dinner to wrap up the ride. Saturday morning, the gals are on the trail by 8:30. Each of the riding groups heads in a different direction, but all meet at a common place for lunch. There is a support vehicle towing a snowmobile trailer available for uncooperative sleds or mishaps. After lunch, each group departs for more trail riding, returning to home base by late afternoon, and logging in about 100 miles for the day. Saturday evening brings a themed banquet which is always full of fun, prizes, and surprises.
On Sunday morning, most of the gals begin to pack up and head for home, but a few of the more seasoned trail riders stay for the Women on Snow Tour which occurs Sunday through Wednesday after the weekend event. The tour is open to those who have ridden on a WOS weekend event. Women on Snow is a great women’s weekend away held at Eagle Waters, a luxury resort in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Meals, lodging, and gas are included in the price for the weekend; oil and refreshments are on your own. Reservations are accepted on a first-received/first accepted basis. The registration form for the next event will be available for download from the home page in November. Get your gal pals together and join us!
